Following Heighington’s flooding problems, Lincolnshire County Council’s contractors have installed sensors at various locations in the village.

The sensors have been installed at Millfield School, under the High Street bridge, under the Millfield bridge and under the Sheepwash bridge. They will provide live information on groundwater levels and the state of the Beck, providing a vital early warning system to help protect the village in the future.

Data from the sensors will be available to the school, the parish council and Lincolnshire County Council.

This is the first step in a plan to tackle what is a very complex problem caused by a combination of groundwater and surfacewater flooding.
